Our Philosophy
SAFETY
As one of our core values, we place this issue at the top of the list. We do not compromise on safety and your safety is of paramount importance. For instance unlike other providers we treat each eye individually with freshly sterilized instrumentation and new disposables for each patient (other centers re-use disposables instead of discarding them). We are also well versed with dealing with patients who have had a less than ideal outcome from other centers. At Rynerson Vision care… We Look After You!
At Rynerson Vision Care safety is an obsession.
That may seem like a strong statement, but we want to emphasize our point. In expert hands laser eye surgery can be an extremely safe, life enhancing experience. More than 100,000 procedures will be done in the Tennessee and Kentucky this year. However, as health care is not a commodity, it pays to do your homework. There are differences between clinics. You want to be sure you're receiving the expert level of safety and care that you deserve.
As a potential patient, you are trying to determine whether laser vision correction is a suitable tool to help you see better. Most people are looking to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. As a clinic, we are trying to demonstrate to you that we do EVERYTHING in our power to help you see better by following strict SAFETY protocols. This sometimes includes determining that you are not a safe candidate for the procedure, or putting off your surgery until we can do further safety testing.
EXPERTISE
Dr. Rynerson is a highly trained and experienced refractive specialist having performed over 10,000 refractive procedures. Dr. Rynerson and his expert staff are interested in satisfying your visual needs and perform a thorough (and sometimes lengthy) evaluation to ensure safety and accuracy of treatment. As a testament to our expertise we are regularly asked to consult and correct patients who have had a less than ideal outcome from other surgeons.
We consistently achieve good outcomes - our overall retreatment / enhancement rate is less than 5%. We constantly audit our refractive procedure to ensure the most precise treatment possible.
Dr. Rynerson is one of less than 100 LASIK surgeons nationally who have been certified by CRSQA (Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance) and is the ONLY certified LASIK surgeon in the states of Tennessee and Kentucky. The Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance certifies LASIK surgeons based on a consistent record of excellent outcomes and unsurpassed safety.
TECHNOLOGY
Dr. James Rynerson has used several different laser platforms. He has found the NIDEK EC-5000 excimer laser system to be the most reliable and perform the smoothest ablation profile of any laser system available. In fact, a recent study using electron microscopy concurred that the NIDEK lasered smoother than any other system tested. The rougher surfaced induced by some systems is thought to be a major contributor to nighttime starbursts or glare. Rynerson Vision Care was the first facility in the state to use the Nidek OPD-wavefront analyzer. We use customize treatments for each eye using an individually tailored nomogram to suit the patient based on their age, corneal shape, pupil size and level of correction.
CARE
Continuity of care – all preoperative consultations are performed by the same nursing and technical staff each and every time so you see the same familiar faces each time you visit. Of course, Dr. Rynerson is the only surgeon you see, and he will be the one who examines your eyes during your consultation as well as during the post-operative period.
24 hour help – our phones are answered 24 hours a day with our surgeon available at all times for medical emergencies.
INTEGRITY
No “bait and switch” – Many so-called discount centers heavily advertise a very low price, but the price goes up dramatically with just minimal levels of refractive errors and also charge extra for post-op exams and enhancements.
Rynerson Vision Care believes these practices to be deceptive and unethical. Our surgical fee includes all postoperative care and any re-treatments necessary for one year.
