Cosmetic Eye Surgery

Dr. James Rynerson is one of a limited number of physicians in the country who is trained in both ophthalmology and cosmetic surgery around the eye. Cosmetic eye surgery, also called blepharoplasty, usually involves the lifting of eyelids and removal of wrinkles or excess skin around the eyes. Blepharoplasty can reduce the aging, tired, or sad look caused by drooping eyelids.

Blepharoplasty Before and After

Surgery around the eyes always requires the consideration of the eye function, and ophthalmologists like Dr. Rynerson with dual training are uniquely qualified to perform such procedures.

BOTOX® Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin)

BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are commonly used for reduction of wrinkles around the eyes, forehead and face. The procedure is performed easily, safely, and with minimal discomfort in the office. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic can last up to four to six months. Medical uses for BOTOX® Cosmetic include injections to control spasms that cause repetitive blinking (blepharospasm) or facial spasm (hemifacial spasm). As an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Goodglick is specially trained in the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic injections for cosmetic and medical use. He would be happy to discuss this procedure and other similar treatments with you.

Laser Skin Resurfacing with Ultrapulse

Dr. Rynerson is a specialist in performing laser skin resurfacing surgery to remove wrinkles on the face and around the eyes. Recent advances have greatly improved a surgeon's ability to eliminate wrinkles while minimizing risks to the eye. Laser resurfacing surgery is performed in an outpatient surgical setting with intravenous "twilight" sedation to ensure patient comfort. The procedure can eliminate wrinkles caused by sun damage, revealing new, younger looking skin. Pre-operatively, the patient uses both medicated cream and antibiotics. The initial post-operative healing takes one to two weeks. During part of this time, protective bandages are placed over the healing areas. There is typically little, if any, post-operative discomfort. Dr. Rynerson would be happy to discuss this procedure and its potential benefits with you.
